IAAF World Youth Championships 2007 OSTRAVA

DAY 4 {July 14}

 10.000 m Race Walk M., Final: Gold - Stanislav EMELYANOV, RUS: Nothing special for me. I did not feel any pressure. I woke up this morning and went to race. During the race I tried to walk faster to beat my PB. I walked only 6 seconds slower, which is also very good. My coach was and is my biggest supporter. I do walk race only one year. Before that I was something like unprofessional runner. Denis Nizegorodov is one of my the most favourite athletes. The way how I will celebrate my vicotry is my secret(lauhgt).

400 m Hurdles, SF, Heat 1: First - William WYNNE, USA: I doest not metter what for time I ran already. I will try to do my best to run as fast as now also in the final to win gold medal. I was working on my finish so that is maybe the reason why I ran so fast now. I slept well and relaxed yesterdy. I prefer 400 m Hurdles to 110 m H. I think I can do better in this event.

Hammer Throw W, Final: Gold - Bianca PERIE, ROM: I am very happy that I won. I train since I was ten years old and I want to become a professional athlete. My idol is Mihaela Melinte.I come from the city of Roman. I like music and dancing as well as athletics. I think Ostrava is very nice city.

Triple Jump, M, Final: Gold - Christian TAYLOR, USA: I am definitly very satisfied with my performance today. Another PB, that is perfect. The greatest motivation for me was that my parents are here with me. They did not promise me any reward for the victory but it is OK.I would like to buy car when I come home. I took ice bath yesterday and I prepared mentaly - visualising of the competition etc. I did not have any special diet. I feel fine now. The weather was very nice here I felt like at home in Atlanta.I played basketbal before and somebody saw that I have a good potential for triple jump. So that is how I got into the athletics. I have been doing it for 4 years now.

3000 m M, Final: Gold - Daniel Lemashon SALEL, KEN: I will celebrate the victory when I come home - it is a habit that we celebrate with my family together in my city. I come from Massai tribe and I used to run 6 km every morning and afternoon to school. Now I am at the boarding school but I train two times a day. My training is in the high altitude. Except training I have also time for my hobbies - I like watching movies and reading books. I started to compete two years ago and by greatest idol is Moses Tanui,(just in this moment Ottavio Castellini from the IAAF handed the cell phone - and on the phone was Moses Tanui!). Moses Tanui gratulated me. Of course I know him already.

High Jump M, Final: Gold - Chen WANG, CHN: I am satisfied but I think it could be better. I do high jump since I was 7 and it is also my hobby. I do not have any other hobbies. I come from Zhejiang province. I am 1.95 m tall and I have 65 kilos. I want to do high jump professionaly and to improve my PB.

High Jump M, Final: Bronze - Josh HALL, AUS: I am very satisfied with bronze medal. Before the Championships I hoped I would be in top 5. I did not expect medal. It was my PB so I am very happy. My idol is Tim Forsyth. I did not undergo any diet before the competition. I had banana pancakes for breakfast and turkey for lunch. The biggest motivation for me was the crowd here. It was very motivational.

Pole Vault W, Final: Gold - Vicky PARNOV, AUS: I think it was my hardest competition ever. I was not thinking about the attempts of my opponents during the competition. I only tried to focus on my technique. However my legs were tired. Yesterday I relaxed and I was focusing on myself. My idol is Isinbayeva, of course. I have no clue when I will beat her (laught). I do pole vault because I love it. I felt great support from the crowd and other people here. I know also Sergey Bubka personally.

Pole Vault W, Final: 7th Dana CIZKOVA, SVK: Even though this is my first international competition and before the Championships I wanted to finish in top eight, I am not completely satisfied because I wanted to jump 4.05 - my new PB. The wind was still rotating what I felt mostly during my last four steps. Otherwise i did not feel respect of this hight. My family, my coach and also other members of Slovak team were my biggest supporters and they helped me a lot. This is my first competition with the 14 feet pole.I felt powerful during the race.My next competition will be EYOF where i want to jump my PB.

I come from the city of Dnjepropetrovsk. I am 2.04 m tall and the distance between my arms - arm spand - is 2.14 m. I played basketbal since I was 5. I have been doing discuss for 4 years.

Heptathlon W, Final:  Gold - Katerina CACHOVÁ, CZE: I can not say, how I feel now. YEAH! I am the World Champion! Great! At the first I want to say that it is a big pitty, that Nikola had three false attempts in Shot Put, we could have gold and silver...I was little bit afraid after my second attempt in long jump, because I knew, that I can not have false attempt!. Luckily I jumped 584cm. After Javelin I knew, that I have good chance for the gold. And I did it!YEAH!!!I felt great support from my coach, maseur, and all fans here in Ostrava. Thanks a lot for all your support.

Heptathlon W, Final: Silver - Carolin Schafer, GER: Before the championship I was hoping about 5th or 6th place. Silver medal is a great sensation and surprise for me. I will surely celebrate my medal. Probably beer with cola, or only cola, because I am only 15 years old.(lauhgt) There was a great athmosphere here. I really enjoyed this championship.

2000 m Steeplechase W, Final:  Gold - Caroline Chepkurui TUIGONG, KEN: It was hard race. I run because i am admiring other runners. My idols are Isaac Songok and Catherine Dereva. I train 3 times a day - before school I run 12 km, during the lunch break I do jogginf for 30 minutes and in the evening I jog 15 minutes. I come from the city of Nakuru. It was funny.
